When she posed for the 2021 SI Swimsuit Issue, multi-platinum recording artist Tinashe traveled to Hollywood, Fla., with photographer James Macari. She donned a number of incredible bikinis and two-pieces while on location, all of which followed a similar moody and metallic aesthetic.

While the “2 On” singer sported several jaw-dropping looks, one in particular still stands out among the others two years later. Tinashe rocked a Lace by Tanaya bikini made of nothing but crystals. The delicate string swimsuit featured rows of gems across both the top and bottoms and made for an unforgettable beachside feature.

As it turns out, posing for SI Swimsuit allowed the Kentucky native to check a major life goal off of her bucket list.

“I feel like I manifested that from like a little kid. I’ve always wanted to be in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit... since it’s such an iconic publication,” she told us at the time of her feature. “The beautiful and powerful women are so inspiring. So, it’s cool that they can continue it and have more music and artist representation. To be involved was a no-brainer.”

In addition to mentioning that she manifested her SI Swimsuit photoshoot, Tinashe encouraged young girls to also go after their own dreams rather than simply wait around for them to happen.

“If you have a dream, you just have to learn how to do it yourself,” she stated. “There are so many resources now with the internet. I learned how to produce and mix from watching YouTube tutorials. So, if there’s something you want to figure out, take it upon yourself to learn it, and don’t wait around for someone to validate that.”
