The athlete continues to use her platform to encourage women to explore male-dominated spaces.

Diana Flores knows what it’s like to be a woman in a male-dominated space. The 25-year-old is the captain and quarterback of Mexico’s Women’s National Flag Football Team, and was named the MVP of the 2022 World Games. Flores also holds the prestigious role of global flag football ambassador for the NFL, IFAF Global Flag Football and Under Armour.

Today, Flores adds another accomplishment to her already stacked résumé, as she becomes the first brand ambassador for Los Cabos, an area of her native country that holds a special place in her heart for its tranquility and focus on overall wellness. With this partnership, she says she is both grateful and proud to continue breaking barriers as an athlete.

“For me to be a Latina woman representing not only the Latino community, but my country, especially a place as special as Los Cabos, it’s truly amazing,” Flores states. “It’s a place that really has a lot of culture, a lot of nature, so to be able to showcase to the world the greatness of our country, such a beautiful place as Los Cabos, is truly an honor.”

Whether you’re looking to book an escape to explore the desert or the ocean, Los Cabos has it all. Plus, Flores says it’s the perfect destination to focus on one’s overall well-being. As an athlete, she prioritizes her own self-care in Los Cabos by watching the sunrise, relaxing at the picturesque Chileno Bay, going for a hike or enjoying a farm-to-table meal at Flora Farms.

As Los Cabos’ first brand ambassador, Flores also gets to continue to use her platform in the way that matters most to her: by showing young women that they too can break into traditionally male-dominated spaces.

“Women in sports, especially in football, we are gaining more spaces and more platforms and we’re raising our voice, which is so important to me,” Flores says. “I truly believe that representation matters and that having role models or giving a voice to [those who] feel that [they] are not heard can really make a huge difference and can change lives.”

While Flores grew up watching the NFL, she didn’t have any female role models to identify with on the field. With this brand ambassadorship, she hopes to change that for future generations of young girls.

“That’s the most important thing, the impact that this has not only for our generations right now and how we keep driving forward our sport, but also the impact that it will have for the future generations of girls that now can dream bigger than ever and that can feel proud to know where they come from and to just embrace their femininity, to embrace their power,” she says.

Los Cabos, Flores says, embodies the perfect balance between adventure and nature for women in particular to disconnect from the world, reconnect with themselves and discover their inner strength.

“We tend to be put in this little box all the time, but I feel that we have to start showing the world that that’s not true and that we can be more than one thing,” Flores says. “[Los Cabos] just gives you the opportunity to do all of that and explore all the versions of yourself.”
