Brittany Mahomes Talks Health, Wellness and Confidence
Brittany Mahomes traveled to San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize, for her rookie feature in the SI Swimsuit Issue, and we are totally blown away with the first look of the results. The 28-year-old is co-owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, a team that is making history this spring with the opening of CPKC Stadium, the first in the world built solely for a women’s professional soccer team.
As a certified fitness trainer and the wife of Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the mom of two says that amidst her busy schedule, she has to prioritize time for herself, and that includes a solid workout routine. In fact, she says that she feels the most confident in workout clothes at the gym.
The Texas native says that working out, eating “nourishing foods” and taking care of her body are key to maintaining her mental health and well-being. She knows that taking care of her own needs is what allows her to be the “best version” of herself for her husband and two children.
How she got into personal training
Mahomes played soccer in both high school and college, and the forward became the first player to score three hat tricks in a season while attending the University of Texas at Tyler. After college, Mahomes signed with UMF Afturelding in 2017 and played one season with the Icelandic club.
“When I was playing professional soccer over in Iceland, I didn’t have a ton to do outside of soccer, so I found myself spending a ton of time in the gym working out, creating workouts, and posting them online,” she explains. “I realized that I was enjoying that so much more than actually playing soccer.”
Mahomes, who has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, launched her online fitness platform, Brittany Lynne Fitness, in 2019. Her goal as a certified trainer is to make a positive impact on people’s health and wellness.
Using her platform for good
Mahomes also unapologetically uses her platform to empower her female followers to take charge of their lives and be the most confident versions of themselves.
“I think I align perfectly with SI Swimsuit’s vision because I am unapologetically always myself in any setting. I want women to feel empowered to always be yourself, love yourself, and feel confident in whatever you do and I think SI Swimsuit does, too,” she says. “Be confident in who you are and be unapologetically yourself. People are going to love you or hate you, but finding your values and what makes you ‘you’ to be the best version of yourself is what really matters. Whether that’s health and wellness, being a great wife or mom, or career goals, being the best version of you is the most important thing you can be.”
