4 Incredible Photos From Gigi Robinson’s Trailblazing Trip to the Dominican Republic

The American model was a finalist in last year’s Swim Search.

When Gigi Robinson became a finalist in last year’s Swim Search and earned a spot in the annual magazine, she made history in two different ways: as the first SI Swimsuit model with a chronic illness and the first from Gen Z. It was a meaningful experience for Robinson, who lives with endometriosis. She brought her best to the set of her photoshoot in the Dominican Republic.

“With this years focus, ‘be the change you want to see,’ I took it into my own hands to take the leap and enter into the Sports Illustrated Swim Search,” she said of her experience in an Instagram post in May 2022.

“I knew that if I made it I would be representing anyone living with chronic illness and to inspire GenZ-ers to achieve literally anything that they want. And I did,” she continued. “I am the first GenZ & Chronically ill Woman in the magazine. My debut is symbolic of my journey as an advocate for so many things including mental health, body image, invisible illness all while being a student and entrepreneur. I am so elated to be alongside all of the other fabulous swim search finalists, congrats to us.”

Not only was she a trailblazer, but she was a talent in front of photographer Yu Tsai’s camera, as well. Robinson donned the best and brightest swimwear and posed for a beautiful gallery of photos on the idyllic Caribbean beaches. Here are a handful of her best snapshots from the day.
