Alexis Ren made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2018 in the breathtaking Aruba with photographer Yu Tsai. The social media influencer, who was creating travel content before it was cool and a mainstream, full-time job, had tons of fun while on location. She rocked tons of fun bikinis, showed off her flexibility as a classically trained ballerina and even made a furry friend.

“Beauty is not just makeup, not just clothes—it’s fitness, it’s mindset, it’s our emotional state,” the 26-year-old said during her Vogue beauty secrets video earlier this year.

The We Are Warriors educational space and wellness community founder uses her platform for mental health advocacy, in addition to aesthetic beach and fashion content. She also starred in last year’s thriller film The Enforcer alongside Antonio Banderas and Kate Bosworth.

Since being named SI Swimsuit’s Rookie of the Year in 2018, Ren, who is signed to WME, has grown her Instagram following to 18 million followers.

“I’ve wanted to be so much more than just pushed into the influencer category that remained for so many years,” the Southern California native told Ocean Drive. “I feel like I’ve held a grudge over that perception of me for so long because it made it so hard for me to be respected in the modeling industry.”

Below are six of our favorite photos from Ren’s 2018 photoshoot with Yu Tsai in Aruba.
