4 Bright, Strappy Bikinis We’re Obsessed With From Katie Austin’s Photo Shoot in Atlantic City

The certified fitness trainer and health coach returns to the SI Swimsuit Issue this month for her third consecutive year.

Katie Austin made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2021 as a finalist in the brand’s Swim Search open casting call. The next year, she was named co-Rookie of the Year alongside Christen Harper.

Two years ago, Austin traveled to Atlantic City for her first-ever SI Swimsuit photo shoot, where she posed for photographer Yu Tsai. In ’22, she worked with James Macari in Montenegro. Additionally, she and her mother, fitness guru Denise Austin, famously walked the runway together during Miami Swim Week last year.

Later this month, the 29-year-old fitness influencer will return to the magazine for her third consecutive year with the publication of the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

“The shoot is something you can’t really put into words,” Austin told SI Swimsuit of her rookie year in ’21. “I cried when I got home just because it’s something you dream about for so many years, and then you realize it’s actually happening, and it’s indescribable.”

While Austin called last year’s photo shoot “nerve-wracking,” and noted that she tried on 50 swimsuits during her fitting, she hopes to inspire fellow women through her work with the franchise.

“[I’ve been] an athlete my entire life, and I have always done everything I possibly can, across all of my platforms, to empower women to be their true, authentic selves,” Austin said. “I’ve always championed that strong is sexy. I can’t wait to build a community with SI Swimsuit.”
