Four-time SI Swimsuit model Anne de Paula and NBA all-star Joel Embiid just tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony in Southampton, N.Y. The 2017 model search winner and 76ers player are parents to a son, Arthur, whom they welcomed in September 2020.

In honor of the exciting milestone, we are throwing it back to the Brazilian model’s rookie SI Swimsuit photoshoot in Nevis.

“At 14, I was already modeling, and a year in the business I didn’t know much of what was to come. If I could tell myself something, it would be: ‘Keep going, don’t give up,’” de Paula said while on location of her most recent feature in the Dominican Republic. “Many times I have received ‘no’ and have doubted moving out of my country and taking this chance. I am glad I kept going, but back then I could have used a friend to help motivate me and give me courage.”
