As a finalist in last year’s Swim Search, media personality and model Drew Dorsey traveled to the Dominican Republic for a photoshoot with Yu Tsai. The California native was one of 13 women who made it to the finals of the open casting call (Mady Dewey was ultimately declared the winner).

Last year, Dorsey shared with SI Swimsuit that becoming a model for the brand had been a lifelong goal on her vision board for years. So, traveling to the Caribbean with the publication was a dream come true—and what made the experience all the more special was sharing it with her fellow Swim Searchers.

“When I tell you all of the women are incredible, I mean INCREDIBLE,” Dorsey gushed. “Everyone is so supportive and encouraging of one another, which can often be hard to come by in the industry, unfortunately. So it’s a breath of fresh air to be among such kind and genuine people. I didn’t rush a sorority in college so I feel like The Swimfluence Network is my sisterhood experience.”

In addition to her work in the industry, Dorsey has a degree in communication studies and journalism from Loyola Marymount. She regularly documents her journey on her YouTube channel, where she has 97,700 loyal subscribers.

“I’ve said it before and I’m going to say it again, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something,” Dorsey wrote on Instagram of her SI Swimsuit debut. “Don’t let anyone make you feel like your dreams are too big.”
